Split between the world famous “Strip” and downtown Las Vegas where it all began in the 1940s, there are so many things to see, places to visit, events to take in and places to eat. This all makes Las Vegas a very special holiday destination. But it is best not to bring your children as Las Vegas is very much themed for adults. If visiting Vegas for the first time it is best to learn about some the most popular places to see and visit.

Hotels are available to fit every budget from the very basic Motel 6 and Hooters to the Flamingo, Harrah’s and Planet Hollywood in the mid range, all the way up the luxurious Cesar’s Palace, Venetian and Bellagio at the top of the spectrum. The Mirage is one of the first of the newest generation hotels on the strip but it priced towards the higher range and attracts a more mature and affluent clientele, and the hotel at the Mirage is beautiful and relaxing.

Vegas is also famous for its food and restaurants and buffets. The city offers some of the best dining in the United States. We always recommend Le Village Buffet at Paris as well as Cravings at the Mirage which is also a highly rated buffet. When finished at the dinner table, most people spend an evening wandering around the lively Casinos and perhaps taking in a show or having a well deserved drink in a Martini bar.

Some of the well known Vegas institutions include Celine Dion, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, The Caveman, Carrot Top, Blue Man Group, Elton John, Divas, Anthony Cools, Donny and Marie, and many, many others.
