The D Hotel & Casino on Las vegas Fremont Street (review and pics)

Do you want to have all the fun and excitement that Las Vegas stands for at a budget that goes easy on your pocket? Then the D is the place to be. Located at the flamboyant Fremont Street (heart of downtown Las Vegas), the newly renovated The D Hotel adorns the majestic vintage Vegas theme of red and black, a symbol of the traditional Fremont experience that still persists in spite of the trend of modernization.

The first thing you notice about it, is the property’s Fremont Street façade with an exterior escalator and interactive video exhibition, comprising of more than 40 giant flat-screen monitors combined with hundreds of feet of LED signage. You just wouldn’t be able to miss that. The 34 storey hotel boasts of 638 rooms and luxury suites, a 42,000 square foot casino floor, an outdoor pool and a whirlpool with outdoor phones to order drinks, a wide range of high quality restaurants and eateries, nightly entertainment, business center and practically everything you imagined a Las Vegas hotel would have and even better.

The rooms are tastefully furnished, complete with flat screen TV with cable, in-room safe, ironing and laundry services and also an ipod dock along with wi-fi access (which is not really free but honestly do you need internet when in Las Vegas?). For all those who want to try their luck at the gambling tables, second floor is of special interest, apart from the casino on the main floor, where ‘the D’ hosts vintage Vegas style casino games.

Food is another vital aspect which makes the ‘D’ a travelers’ favorite. There are a multitude of dining options, ranging from the all-American McDonalds to the D grill which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and 24 hours-a-day Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse.

Talking about unlimited booze supply and the happy hours that follow, this aptly named ‘party hotel’ has it covered with three bars – Longbar, which literally Nevada’s longest bar; D Bar, an outdoor bar for the ultimate Fremont Street experience featuring flair bartenders; and the Vue bar located on the casino’s second floor.

If you are not much of a gambler, don’t worry for the nightly live entertainment shows and the occasional fights in the D showroom would just make your stay memorable for life. And being located in the main artery of Downtown Las Vegas, all you have to do is step outside and brace yourself while you are greeted by an overwhelming stream of unending parties and after parties.
